Workshops Week

-

During Scotland's Workshops Week, Street Level Photoworks will be hosting a variety of talks and workshops to attend and get involved with:

4th May, 2pm - Arpita Shah in conversation with Dr Catriona McAra, Art Historian at the University of Aberdeen, this event takes place at Aberdeen Art Gallery. The talk coincides with Arpita's exhibition 'Nalini' which is currently on show at Duff House, in Banff. This intergenerational event seeks to explore the figure of the grandmother through the medium of photography and the inherited object.

11th May, 2-4pm – Regenerative Conversations: Panel Discussion. This is a chance to hear uplifting stories first hand from those quietly revolutionising our food systems, featuring representatives from Grampian Graziers, Lauriston Farm, Seed Sovereignty Programme, and Sophie Gerrard, whose exhibition ‘Cultivating Equality’ is on show in Trongate 103. Also an opportunity to see and hear the poem ‘Seed Kist’ on video by Iona Lee, alongside Coulson & Tennant’s profile of Cranhill Community Gardens in ‘Grow to Eat’.

12th May - Experience the magic of developing an image in a traditional B+W darkroom, making a photogram with objects directly onto photographic paper. Sessions run for 45 minutes starting at 12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm, 3.15pm and 4.15pm. No Booking Necessary. Family friendly, suitable for ages 5+, children must be accompanied by an adult for the full session

12th May, 1-4pm, Jenny Matthews In-person - Come along to Street Level between 1 and 4pm and meet the photographer Jenny Matthews who will be in the gallery to chat to visitors about her exhibition of photo quilts.
